National Initiatives

Digital Atlas of Ancient Life http://www.geosun.sjsu.edu/~jhendricks/AtlasTemp/

This project is related to a broader natural history specimen digitization effort supported by the National Resource for Advancing Digitization of Biodiversity Collections (ADBC) called Integrated Digitized Biocollections, or iDigBio. The goal is to digitize and image specimens and make them available to researchers and the public.

Field Station Concordia http://www.fieldstation.net/

Field Station Concordia takes the form of a field station created from reclaimed materials in the dimensions of Thoreau’s cabin at Walden.  Created as a platform for the gathering of data about the local ecology in the form of observations, handmade and virtual representations, and texts and maps that challenge and reimagine the separation of human and natural agency.

iDigBio https://www.idigbio.org/

Integrated Digitized Biocollections (iDigBio), the National Resource for Advancing Digitization of Biodiversity Collections (ADBC) funded by the National Science Foundation. Through ADBC, data and images for millions of biological specimens are being made available in electronic format for the research community, government agencies, students, educators, and the general public.

iDigBio Thematic Collections Networks (TCNs) https://www.idigbio.org/content/thematic-collections-networks

Each Thematic Collections Network (TCN) is a network of institutions with a strategy for digitizing information that addresses a particular research theme, such as impacts of climate change or biota of a region.
