A diverse and international set of researchers, museum curators, educators, isotopic core laboratories, journal editors, and data managers met at the Sevilleta Field Station in New Mexico with the goal of designing an IsoBank as an effective and viable online and public repository for the vast isotopic data now being generated. Modeled after the highly successful GenBank, participants dealt with a number of topics such as links to museum specimens and databases, metadata considerations, database structure and linkages, organizational structure, data quality and sustainability were discussed over the two days. As a result of that meeting, organizers are now preparing a manuscript that outlines the consensus vision of attendees related to the establishment of IsoBank.
